Details

EZLP & Care Dependency Scale

  • EZLP uses 17 themes to indicate a client's care dependence.
  • These themes are based on the Care Dependency Scale.
  • For care workers, the themes are recognizable and easily applicable in existing work flows.
  • This initiative is in accordance with Dutch policies for responsible care. (VWS, Actiz and IGZ)

EZLP & Care Indication

  • EZLP activities are in conformity with the manuals for Dutch Care Indication.
  • A time indication has been assigned to each activity, this time may be adjusted based on the client's needs.
  • EZLP gives a clear breakdown of the care needs and how they are accounted for.
  • This makes it clear for everyone what type and amount of care is available to the client.
  • The application takes the Care Indication bandwidths into account.

EZLP & flexibility

  • The activity list can be laid out differently for different groups.
  • Descriptions, time indications and settings can be adjusted and extended.

EZLP & care paths

  • Using a client's CDS profile, a risk profile can be composed.
  • Researching the client's situation can quantify these risks.
  • If the client has, for example, an increased risk of developing pressure ulcer, a care path can be set up.
  • A care path provides insight in preventive measures and necessary treatment.

Specifications for implementation

EZLP runs as a web application in these browsers:

  • Safari 5 or later versions
  • Mobile Safari in iOS 4.3 or later versions
  • Google Chrome 10 or later versions
  • Google Chrome Frame for Internet Explorer

The data is stored on the Lable Data Server, which can be embedded in the care organization's infrastructure. The Lable Data Server can be linked with existing (client) databases.

What is the CDS?

The Care Dependency Scale (CDS) is an instrument consisting of 15 factors that helps determine a client's dependence on the most recurring care needs, to be used in home and clinical care settings like hospitals, mental handicap homes, nursing homes and residential care homes. The CDS is based on the 'basic human needs theory' as represented by Abdellah, Henderson, Maslow and Orem. These needs can be considered fundamental, universal and independent to age and type of care.

The accuracy and validity of the CDS was researched in a number of (inter)national studies, which has repeatedly brought to light its excellent psychometric properties. The 15 factors convert into an one dimensional structure of care dependence and in clinical practice the CDS is considered a valid instrument for comparing both groups and individuals. Paired with its good instructions, usability and duration, this has led the CDS to be translated into 14 languages and used in, among others, the Annual Dutch National Prevalence Measurement of Care Problems. (LPZ measurement).
